Long before Nicolas Winding Refn (director) took on Drive, Roger Avary (screenwriter) planned to adapt the Driver video game for the big screen. Except that the case dragged on and that, as Avary confided in an interview, Drive is for him the perfect transposition of Driver (even without having any connection with the game), which therefore remained in the garage.
